Fairbanks Arts Association needs volunteers to staff the Bear Gallery located in the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts at Pioneer Park. Meet local artists and welcome visitors to gallery exhibits and events. Fairbanks Arts Association will provide the training and you provide your friendly personality to give visitors a warm welcome! 3 hours of your time once a week or however often you choose is greatly appreciated. The Birch Park Neighborhood Kids After School Program sponsored by the Literacy Council of Alaska needs empty baby food jars for craft projects. We are looking for clean, 4-oz jars with lids. Please contact Dawn Nadeau at 456-6212.
Farthest North Girl Scout Council is in need of volunteers for their 100th Anniversary Event on March 10, 10 - 4pm at Pioneer Park Civic Center. Anyone interested in learning more about the Girl Scouts last 100 years, reconnecting with the organization and old friends, singing camp songs like the old days, come join the planning committee for the big event in March. Access Alaska's "Loan Closet" is in need of adaptive equipment donations that are in good condition, specifically: wheelchairs, shower chairs, transfer benches, grab bars, rollators (rolling walkers), lift chairs, geriatric chairs, and knee scooters. Access Alaska provides this adaptive equipment to anyone with a disability who is in need free of charge though their Loan Closet. Volunteers with a desire to make a Big difference are needed at Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS). BBBS is in need of Big Brothers and Big Sisters to match with children in our community in order to be mentors and friends, providing children with one-on-one time with a caring adult. More specifically needed are Big Brothers. With a waiting list of over 50 boys in need of a Big Brother, BBBS needs men who are willing to give a little of their time, an investment that can have Big returns. Alaska Health Fair, Inc. is looking for medical and non-medical volunteers for their Saturday morning Health Fairs. Health Fair dates available for volunteering include; March 31 in Nenana; April 14 in Salcha; April 21 in Glenallen; April 28th in Fairbanks; May 5th in Eagle; May 19th in Central. Forget-Me-Not Books is in need of volunteers to help staff the bookstore and prep books for the store. Our volunteers typically help us by cashiering, adopting a section, cleaning books, or working on special projects, but we can also use whatever unique gifts they have to help make the bookstore successful.
Saturday volunteers? Food Bank is looking for GROUPS of volunteers on Saturday. Call Pam at the Fairbanks Community Food Bank, 374-0555, if you are interested in bringing a group to pack /distribute USDA food. We are specifically looking for people on the 3rd Saturday of each month, the shift is 11:30 to 2:30. ALSO on the 1st or 4th Saturday of each month, the shift is 9:30 to noon. We need the same people for the whole shift and prefer volunteers who are well supervised by group members if between age 8-16. This project occurs each month, but we are looking only for one shift during the month commitment. Food Bank is primarily a volunteer organization and we need and appreciate your help.

Outpatient Surgery Information Desk
Volunteers at the outpatient surgery information desk support the hospital by greeting patients and visitors, providing general information and giving directions. Acting as an ambassador of the hospital, the volunteer is a liaison between the outpatient nursing unit and waiting family members. Volunteers in this position must be able to successfully provide customer service to the public.

Gift Shop
Volunteers support the hospital by greeting gift shop customers and operating the cash register. Volunteers in this position must be able to successfully provide customer service to the public.
Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday or Saturday
1 pm to 4 pm
Service Excellence
Volunteers support the Services Excellence department by rounding on patients in the nursing units, providing companionship, conversation and comfort cart items to patients. Volunteers in this position must be able to successfully provide customer service to the public.
