Access Alaska's "Loan Closet" is in need of adaptive equipment donations that are in good condition, specifically: wheelchairs, shower chairs, transfer benches, grab bars, rollators (rolling walkers), lift chairs, geriatric chairs, and knee scooters. Access Alaska provides this adaptive equipment to anyone with a disability who is in need free of charge though their Loan Closet. Forget-Me-Not Books is in need of volunteers to help staff the bookstore and prep books for the store. Our volunteers typically help us by cashiering, adopting a section, cleaning books, or working on special projects, but we can also use whatever unique gifts they have to help make the bookstore successful.
Saturday volunteers? Food Bank is looking for GROUPS of volunteers on Saturday. Call Pam at the Fairbanks Community Food Bank, 374-0555, if you are interested in bringing a group to pack /distribute USDA food. We are specifically looking for people on the 3rd Saturday of each month, the shift is 11:30 to 2:30. ALSO on the 1st or 4th Saturday of each month, the shift is 9:30 to noon. We need the same people for the whole shift and prefer volunteers who are well supervised by group members if between age 8-16. This project occurs each month, but we are looking only for one shift during the month commitment. Food Bank is primarily a volunteer organization and we need and appreciate your help.

Acting as an ambassador of the hospital, the volunteer is a liaison between the outpatient nursing unit and waiting family members. Volunteers in this position must be able to successfully provide customer service to the public.
