Leadership Program

The United Way of the Tanana Valley Leadership Program is made up of a group of our community's most generous donors. United Way of the Tanana Valley ("United Way") has been raising funds for health and human care agencies in our community since 1956. These agencies work to improve lives, whether it's a family who has lost their home due to fire or a child struggling to deal with the trauma of abuse. United Way significantly reduces the time and money these charities spend on fundraising, allowing them to devote more energy to providing services.

In 2007, United Way raised an incredible $1.3 million for charities in the Tanana Valley. Leadership Givers were responsible for 33% of this amount, demonstrating the importance--and extraordinary impact--this group has on improving the health and well-being of people in our community. The following are some good reasons United Way should be at the top of your list:
  • United Way offers a high level of accountability. You can be sure that someone is keeping a careful eye on where your money goes and how it is used.
  • United Way works hard to identify where the critical needs are in the Tanana Valley, and then allocates contributions to well-established agencies based on those needs.
  • United Way works hard to keep its fundraising costs low, meaning more of your donation gets to the charity.
  • United Way gives you more choices in how you make your donations--payroll deduction, credit card, installment payments--and where your donations go.
Please join us in supporting United Way's Leadership Giving Program with a gift of $500 or more. We realize we are asking you to give a lot. But we wouldn't be asking if we didn't believe so strongly in United Way and the work of its member agencies. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 452-7211.
