Barbara Schuhmann and Robert Groseclose named 2011 United Way Campaign Co-ChairsBarbara and Bob are shareholders in the law firm of Cook Schuhmann & Groseclose, Inc. They met in Washington, D.C., when they worked as staff to the U.S. Senate. They were married in 1974 and their honeymoon was driving and camping on the Alcan Highway, starting on the east coast, and ending in Fairbanks. They have two daughters, Jane and Kathryn.
Since 1976, they have practiced law in Fairbanks and served on multiple legal and professional organizations. They both have served terms on the Alaska Judicial Council, and Barbara served on the Board of Governors of the Alaska Bar Association.
Both have served on many charitable organizations as well. Bob has been a scoutmaster and Catholic School Board member. Barbara served as member and Chairperson of the Alaska Commission on the Status of Women. She has served on the boards of the Rotary Club of Fairbanks (where she has served as president), Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way of the Tanana Valley. Last year, the Farthest North Council of the Girls Scouts recognized Barbara as a Woman of Distinction.
When not volunteering, Barbara likes to paint watercolors, garden, travel and cook. Bob enjoys skiing and the outdoors.

Midnight Sun Run Coloring Contest winner and budding artist 9 year-old Lexi Bante displays her winning entry alongside with Midnight Sun Run Race Director Karen Lundquist. Lexi was presented with her summer fun pack prize sponsored by Beaver Sports.
