Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Serve as Big Brothers, Big Sisters or Big Couples to kids ages 6 to 16 who need adult attention and friendship. A ‘big’ spends three to five hours/week with a child serving as a friend, mentor and role-model (one year minimum) OR volunteer one hour/week as a School-Based Mentor. Boys & Girls Clubs
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tanana Valley are in need of the following items: pipe cleaners, construction paper, glue, beads, ribbon, arts & crafts paint, and other craft supplies, a trophy case, small calculators. Contact us at 457-5223.


Careline Crisis Intervention
Careline Crisis Intervention seeks volunteers to assist with its statewide crisis intervention hotline. Careline provides a structured, interactive 32-hour training to community volunteers; training is available during week days and weekends, to fit volunteers' schedules. Careline provides crisis intervention by interacting with callers in a respectful, confidential and empowering manner. Volunteers provide suicide prevention to those who are considering suicide, and provide crisis intervention, support, information, and referral to those who are experiencing crisis, isolation, mental illness or depression. Fairbanks Animal Shelter
The Fairbanks Animal Shelter Fund is seeking volunteers to work with animals and customer service volunteers to assist the Animal Shelter staff at the front desk, answering the phone, as well as handling some clerical tasks. Fairbanks Arts Association
The Fairbanks Arts Association is seeking volunteers to help staff the Bear Gallery The Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts. The Bear Gallery is open seven days a week, 365 days a year and the exhibits change monthly. We’d like volunteers who would be willing to give their time once a week, once a month or more. The gallery is run in four-hour shifts in the winter and five-hour shifts in the summer. For more information call June Rogers at the Arts Association 456-6485.



Fairbanks Community Food Bank
Fairbanks Community Food Bank seeks volunteers to assemble food boxes Monday – Friday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Contact Kathy at 45-SHARE.



Fairbanks Memorial Hospital / Denali Center
Outpatient Surgery Center Information Desk: (Volunteers greet visitors, patients, patient's family members, give general information and Directions). Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to noon.

3West Surgical/Orthopedic Nursing: (Must have excellent people skills. Take meal trays to patients, replenish patient's water, visit with patient, etc.) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday from 10am to 2 pm.

Gift Shop: (Volunteers assist customers, stock shelves) Monday through Friday (times are flexible) Gift Shop Volunteers receive a 50% discount on merchandise they purchase at the gift shop.

Fairbanks Veterans Center
The Fairbanks Veterans Center is looking for volunteer drivers with a valid driver’s license, their own insurance, and be able to pass a physical examination (VA policy). The Veterans Center also seeks a volunteer receptionist to assist with clerical work in the afternoons. Hours are flexible. Call Scott Owsley at 456-4238.



Farthest North Girl Scout Council

Greater Fairbanks Area Habitat for Humanity
The Greater Fairbanks Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for an enthusiastic person to help with organizing volunteers and coordinating a volunteer recognition event. Habitat is also in need of volunteers experienced in construction as crew leaders and site supervisors to oversee volunteer groups building the Habitat Houses. The Literacy Council
The Literacy Council seeks one-on-one tutors for elementary age children two afternoons a week from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. All training and tutoring materials are provided by the Literacy Council. For more information, call Carolin Remmen at 456-6212.



Love Social Services
Love Social Services is in need of books, volunteer tutors, and nonperishable food items for the after school program for children. Please call Sharen at 458-8400 if you are interested in donating or volunteering.



The National Senior Service Corps
The National Senior Service Corps is seeking seniors who are over 60 years old who are interested in sharing their knowledge, skills with children/youth. Foster Grandparents work in a variety of programs in the community. Transportation is provided and a stipend is offered for those who qualify. Contact Barb 452-6417.



Newborns in Need
Newborns in Need, a national non-profit organization which sews essential baby items for babies in crisis or in need, is looking for volunteers to help sew, knit, crochet, or quilt blankets, hats, and booties. Lots of other non-sewing tasks to be done. Specific needs include: preemie outfits and items, as well as monetary donations. Call Suellen at 452-1769.



The North Star Council on Aging
The North Star Council on Aging seeks volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to local seniors. For more information, call Lou at 452-1735.



The Resource Center for Parents and Children
The Resource Center for Parents and Children is currently looking for an energetic individual to provide childcare for parenting classes and groups. Please call 456-2866 ext. 103 for more information.

RCPC Stevie's Place seeks nutritional snack items for children who come for a forensic interview and medical exam. Items such as cheese and crackers or peanut butter, fruit cups, Jell-O cups, pudding cups, raisins, lunchables, muffins, snack bars, etc. would be greatly appreciated! Salcha Neighborhood Watch Program

The Salvation Army

Santa’s Senior Center
