Northern Alaska Combined Federal Campaign Receives Award At The White House

Northern Alaska Combined Federal Campaign is pleased to announce that the organization will be recognized at the White House as a campaign with the highest percent dollar increase (25.4%). The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is a yearly opportunity for federal employees to contribute to non-profit organizations through payroll deduction. Federal employees can directly designate their contributions to more than 1,500 charitable organizations that provide health and human services locally, nationally and internationally.
The Northern Alaska CFC encompasses the Tanana Valley and is governed by the Local Federal Coordinating Committee. This committee is comprised of representatives from Alaska Congressional Office, Bureau of Land Management, Eielson AFB, Federal Aviation Administration, Fort Wainwright, National Park Service, National Weather Service, United States Fish and Wildlife, Transportation Security Administration and the United States Postal Service. The Local Federal Coordinating Committee selected United Way of the Tanana Valley to manage the daily operations of the campaign.
Margarita Bell, representative of United Way of the Tanana Valley, will travel to Washington D.C. to accept the award on behalf of the Northern Alaska Combined Federal Campaign on May 21. Margarita Bell is the staff assigned to work with the local board and volunteers of the Northern Alaska CFC. Bell stated that the efforts of the Campaign Coordinators attributed to the success of the 2003 campaign that led to national recognition. She praised the outstanding leadership of the federal organizations and the generosity of federal employees in the Northern Alaska area.
The Northern Alaska CFC raised $346,076 in 2003, the highest amount ever raised in this region. Of the amount raised, local agencies received $81,427, national agencies received $248,684 and international agencies received $15,965.
